Peanut Butter Protein Balls
Happy 2021! I hope this year is truly amazing for you! Are you crushing your New Year’s goals? I’m off to a pretty good start, which is why I wanted to share this recipe with you: Peanut Butter Protein Balls! It’s quick, simple, and oh so delicious!
I have made these protein balls with normal peanut butter and all natural peanut butter, vanilla whey protein powder and vegan protein powder, honey and agave nectar, I’ve added cocoa nibs and chocolate sprinkles; and whatever your preference, you will not be disappointed. Most of the ingredients are gluten free by default, except for the oats.
Although oats themselves are naturally gluten free, conventional store bought oats not. Cross contamination occurs during the harvesting and packaging process, which is no bueno. Luckily gluten free oats can be found at most grocery stores or bought online. I usually find Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Oats at Walmart and Smith’s, but I have also bought GF oats online from Thrive Market.
Have fun mixing up your ingredients for these protein balls. Try chocolate protein powder! Add some sprinkles for extra crunch! Don’t worry, I did the math and adding a tablespoon of sprinkles only adds 1 extra calorie to each protein ball, which is so worth it!
Peanut Butter Protein Balls
Equipment
- Cookie Scoop (Optional)
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- ½ Cup Honey
- ½ Cup Oats (Gluten Free)
- 2 Scoops Vanilla Protein Powder
- ½ tsp Vanilla
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 TBSP Cocoa Nibs or Chocolate Sprinkles (Optional)
Instructions
- Mix together peanut butter, honey, protein powder, vanilla, and salt.
- Stir in gluten free oats. Add in cocoa nibs or sprinkles, if using.
- Use cookie scoop, or a spoon and roll into shape, to make about 17 1-inch protein balls.
- Store protein balls in an airtight container in the fridge. Use parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking and clumping.
Notes
- If you choose to use agave nectar, start with a ¼ cup and add 1 TBSP at a time until you reach your desired consistency. Using ½ cup will result in very soft protein lumps that won't hold their shape as well. They are just as delicious!

Yes, the recipe is for protein “balls,” but I find using a cookie scoop faster than rolling them into perfect little spheres.
