Halloween Charcuterie Board
Cheese. Meat. Crackers. Fruit. Chocolate. All staples for any charcuterie board. After a trip to Trader Joe’s, I got inspiration to make a Halloween Charcuterie board with all of the fun Autumn treats. I’ve made a few charcuterie boards before (a total of 2), and everyone enjoys being able to try the different goodies, and make their perfect combination of snacks.
Perhaps there are specific rules to making a charcuterie board, but I don’t know what they are. I focus on having a variety of foods (colors, tastes, textures) and less about the perfect cheese and fruit pairing (although, if that’s your thing, do it!). Look through your pantry to see what you have; plus, you don’t need much of any one thing. I usually have nuts, seeds, and crackers on hand, so I only really need to buy fresh fruit and cheeses.
Use whatever foods you like. You’re the creator of this snack-fest so you can do whatever you want! You can pick season fruits and treats to fit the theme of your charcuterie board, or focus on a holiday, or focus on a person and their favorite foods! Just have fun!
Autumnal Charcuterie Board
Equipment
- Charcuterie Board(s)
- Wooden Cutting Board(s)
- Butcher Paper
Ingredients
- Fresh Fruit (Apples, Grapes, Berries)
- Dried Fruit (Cranberries, Mango, Apricots, etc.)
- Assorted Nuts (Pistachios, Almonds, Pecans, etc.)
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Sliced Meats (Pepperoni, Salami, etc.)
- Sliced Cheeses (Cheddar, Gouda, Havarti, etc.)
- Gluten Free Crackers
- Caramel Corn
- Tortilla Chips
- Salsa
- Candy Corn
- Chocolate
Instructions
- Prep your counter or table by cleaning it well.
- Wash and prep all fresh fruit.
- Slice any cheeses or meats you have. If you are serving softer cheeses, be sure to have a serving knife.
- Layout your boards where you want to serve everyone. You can layer boards and create different heights. Place your serving bowls on top of the boards. Depending on the season, you can use different candy dishes or serving bowls. Play around with the arrangement and have fun.
- Start placing your different elements on the board and try to break up colors and textures. For example, separate salami and pepperoni with cheese, or make a line of crackers done the board. If working with a round board, you could give each item it's own "wedge."
From Trader Joe’s I used the following Autumn Harvest items:
- Leaf Tortilla Chips
- Halloween Potato Snacks (shaped like bats & ghosts)
- Chocolate Pumpkin Bark
- Maple Caramel Corn
I was able to use my black cat candy dish, a small pumpkin dish I used for pumpkin seeds, and a cauldron I used for pistachios. I think the various Halloween treats, along with the Halloween decor items, transformed this charcuterie board into a fun appetizer for any Fall party!
