Chocolate Creme Cookie Review

Chocolate Creme Cookie Review

Update! Oreo launched their gluten free cookies January 2021. FINALLY! Not to mention, Oreo has double stuffed gluten free cookies! I am pleased to announce that Oreo did it. It was like eating a full gluten Oreo. Although I did try the double stuff cookies, I didn’t add that review to this post because most other cookies are single stuff.

When I first reviewed these gluten free cookies, Good Girl was my favorite, but now I would pick Oreo to eat and enjoy.

The cookies are listed below in alphabetical order, but my ratings are listed below. All thoughts and comments are my own.

Glutino Chocolate Vanilla Creme Cookies

$3.72 Walmart, $4.29 Smith’s

Package: Tray within a sealed bag. I usually end up putting these cookies in the original bag within a larger bag that is easier to seal.

Count: 21 Cookies

Review: Glutino cookies usually have a higher price than other brands on the shelves, but when I am wanting a quality cookie to enjoy and eat, I pick Glutino. The cookie has the crispiest crunch when compared to the other brands. I find the cookie to creme ratio good, which means slightly more filling.

Goodie Girl Chocolate Creme Cookies

$5.00 Amazon.com

Package: The cookies come in a tray, in a sealed bag, in a box.

Count: 24 Cookies

Review: Most often I find the Mint Slim cookies from this brand, which are also delicious. However, I first saw the Chocolate Creme Cookies in a discount bin at a grocery store for $0.50! (How could I pass up a deal like that?!) I took my first bite and I was taken back to my childhood of eating Oreo cookies. My mind was convinced I was eating Oreos and my non Gluten-Free husband agreed. I had a hard time finding these cookies in any store, including a health food store. When I searched online, the only store listed to sell them near me was Whole Foods, which was an hour away, so I bought these cookies on Amazon. Yes, I bought 6 boxes, but that made each box $5. Goodie Girl is the priciest cookies, but they are by far the best tasting, and textured, chocolate creme cookies around.

Great Value Chocolate Creme Sandwich Cookies

$2.68 Walmart

Package: The cookies come in a tray within a bag.

Count: 24 Cookies

Review: Walmart does a pretty good job with these cookies. You really can’t beat the taste for the price. However, they are not as good as Glutino or Goodie Girl. That being said, these cookies would be my first choice for any recipe requiring Oreo cookies. I have used these cookies for a creme pie, including the cookie crust, with wonderful results. In comparison, Great Value Chocolate Creme Cookies have a softer “crunch” than Goodie Girl and Glutino.

Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

 $3.99 Harmons, Sale $3.50 Smith’s

Package: Plastic tray with resealable package, just like traditional Oreos.

Count: 33 Cookies

Review: Delicious! I thought Goodie Girl was pretty close, but the Gluten Free Oreo Cookies are amazing! Oreo had a reputation to uphold and they did it! I can forgive them for taking so long because these cookies are my new favorite. I will most likely buy the double stuff cookies for eating. As for baking, Oreo would not be my first choice because I can find cookies cheaper that might be better for chopping.

Simple Truth Chocolate Flavored Sandwich Cookies

$3.41 Smith’s

Package: The cookies come in a tray, in a sealed bag, in a box.

Count: 18 Cookies

Review: These cookies were too soft. Not to mention, the price for the number of cookies you get is not my favorite. As you can see in the picture, the ratio of cookie to creme was no even so some cookies had more filling while others had very little, or within the same cookie one side had more filling than the other. I will not be buying these cookies again, because for a little more I can get better quality cookies from Glutino.

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Vanilla Creme Cookie “Joe-Joe’s”

$3.99 Trader Joe’s

Package: The cookies come in a tray, in a sealed bag, in a box.

Count: 24 Cookies

Review: Another brand of cookie that I will most likely not be buying again. The texture is very crumbly almost like sand. The flavor is good, but I prefer my chocolate creme cookies with a bit of crunch. However, if you typically do most of your shopping at Trader Joe’s, this cookie is a nice treat to enjoy, and let’s be honest: I’d rather have cookies than no cookies!

Favorite Cookie: Oreo

Best Value: Great Value

These cookies are always gluten free
